Frequently Asked Questions

  • We begin mowing on March 1st and end on November 30th.

  • In March, warm-season weeds like crabgrass start appearing. Mowing them early prevents flowering and seeding. If not mowed, they can spread seeds throughout the lawn. Grass keeps growing into November but more slowly as temperatures begin to fall.

  • Different grass types grow faster in different seasons. Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine are warm-season grasses that grow most from May to August. Fescue, Ryegrass, and Bluegrass are cool-season grasses that grow most from March to May and late August to November.

  • Warm-season grasses such as Bermuda, aerate and overseed mid-April to June. Cool-season grasses such as Fescue, aerate and overseed September to October.
